Alternative rock innovators Johnny Manchild And The Poor Bastards are making a bold statement with the release of their latest single, "Stacks!", accompanied by a politically charged satirical music video that fearlessly tackles the hypocrisy and division shaping today's social climate.
Inspired in part by the devastating California fires and the public discourse that followed, frontman Johnny Manchild explains that the song reflects "the theories thrown out about social diversity being to blame, and the general violence and vitriol we see towards our own people." Directed by YingChen Shu, the accompanying video blends the imagery of a political campaign with cult-like symbolism, creating a striking visual commentary on today's culture of personality and political polarization.
"Stacks!" serves as the latest preview of the band's forthcoming album, SIDE EFFECTS, a self-produced project that expands the group's signature alternative rock sound with heavier guitars, a full horn section, industrial textures, rapid-fire vocals, and power-pop punk energy. The album showcases Johnny Manchild's talents as producer, engineer, mixer, and arranger, highlighting the creative independence that has become a defining characteristic of the band.
Since forming in 2016, Johnny Manchild And The Poor Bastards have built a fiercely loyal grassroots following through relentless touring and an authentic connection with fans.
